Probe into 'illegal' detention of foreigners in Assam
Guwahati, Aug 12: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has directed the chief secretary to conduct an enquiry into the allegations of illegal detention of foreigners in the state.
The enquiries would be carried out by divisional commissioners concerned to ascertain the veracity of the allegations of illegal detention in the three detention centers at Goalpara, Kokrajhar and Silchar, Gogoi said on Tuesday.

More than 14 Bangladeshis were arrested from different areas in Sonitpur district and and they were recently officially declared as "foreign nationals" entering and staying in the country illegally. All of them were sent to the detention centres for deportation last week, officials said.
