Priyanka Gandhi Gets EC Notice Over ‘Rs 21’ Remark Targeted At PM Modi
The Election Commission on Thursday served a show-cause notice to senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over an alleged poll code violation during her speech in Rajasthan. The poll panel has given time till October 30 evening to respond to its notice.
The EC action came a day after the BJP filed a complaint against her. The saffron party had accused Gandhi of "invoking the personal religious devotion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi" to make false claims during her poll campaign in Rajasthan's Dausa and urged the Election Commission to take action against her.

The BJP highlighted in its statement that during a public gathering in Dausa on October 20, she mentioned that she had watched on television as an envelope containing a donation made by Modi at a temple was opened, revealing that it contained only Rs 21.
She adds that she saw the news and is not aware if the claim is true or not, the BJP's complaint read.
She then went on to launch a political attack on the BJP saying that "envelops" are shown to public by the party but nothing is found in them after the elections. The BJP included a video of her remarks in its complaint.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma for his remarks targeting Chhattisgarh minister Mohammad Akbar during the assembly poll campaign last week.
