Delhi: Principal Secretary suspended after arrest in bribery case

New Delhi, Dec 9: Principal Secretary Sanjay Pratap Singh was today suspended by the Delhi government, a day after CBI arrested him for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the government will not spare anyone found to be involved in corruption.

Delhi: PS suspended over bribery case

Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of SC, ST and Minorities, and his personal assistant, were arrested by CBI last night after the complainant approached Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's office.

"The government has suspended Sanjay Pratap Singh, an IAS officer of 1984 batch of AGMUT cadre, and surrendered his service to MHA, saying that we don't require Singh's services anymore," according to a Delhi government official.

CBI arrested the IAS officer for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from the owner of a firm that supplies security guards and other manpower for clearing pending bills. CBI sleuths had laid a trap after which Singh and his personal assistant were arrested. "The complainant had recently approached Chief Minister's Office.

The CM's Office then guided the complainant in trapping the official and tonight got S P Singh arrested by CBI red-handed. CBI acted on a communication received from CM's Office," a Delhi government spokesperson had yesterday said.
