Day 2 PMO: 'SIT' for a start to rise up to black money

Ravi Shankar Prasad
New Delhi, May 28: The very first day of the new Prime Minister's office bustled with activities; not just any activity, but a productive one. While Narendra Modi was busy maintaining international relations with the SAARC countries at Hyderabad House, he also paid attention to the inherent problems of the country-one being that of black money stashed abroad.

Just 2 days old, the Prime Minister constituted a Speacial Investigation Team (SIT) to bring back the black money that has been stashed outside. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting that was held on Tuesday evening.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, the new Law Minister after the meeting said,"I want to share two issues which were discussed at the meeting today. It is a matter a great satisfaction that we have constituted a SIT to bring back black money as per Supreme Court orders." Moreover, the SIT will be headed by a retired Supreme Court judge Justice MB Shah.

Prasad further added,"The highest level of financial, revenue and economic management of the country are members of the SIT. This indicates the commitment of the new government of India." The new Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi plunged into action immediately after it took oath two days ago.

Modi's meetings with the Afghan and the Pakistani chiefs were particularly fruitful for the trios bilateral ties.
