President Mukherjee congratulates Sindhu

New Delhi, Aug 19: President Pranab Mukherjee today joined the nation in congratulating shuttler PV Sindhu for winning a silver medal in the women's singles at the Rio Olympic Games.

Sindhu lost the final 21-19 12-21 15-21 to world number one from Spain Carolina Marin in the final to settle for a historic silver medal.

"The people of India rejoice with your family and you on the remarkable achievement. Your grit, mental strength and brilliant display today will inspire confidence amongst all Indian sports persons that they can achieve the pinnacle of any sport at the international level.

My best wishes are with you for all future endeavours," the President said in his message to the young shuttler.
