President Droupadi Murmu Honours Sai Kaustuv Dasgupta With National Award
Sai Kaustuv Dasgupta, the Wheelchair Warrior of India, was honoured by President Droupadi Murmu on December 3 at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Recognized for his exceptional contributions in the field of accessibility, inclusion, and diversity, Dasgupta, a Global TEDx Motivational Speaker and a person with 90 per cent Locomotor Disability, received the National Award for Individual Excellence in the 'Shrestha Divyangjan' category.

Dasgupta embarked on a five-day road journey from Bangalore to Delhi in an accessible car, sitting for 14-15 hours of daily travel in his motorized wheelchair.

Despite suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a very rare brittle bone disease, and severe hearing impairment, Dasgupta has emerged as a global icon with leadership traits. His positive outlook and expertise in Happiness Coaching have left a lasting impact on diverse audiences worldwide. Holding Guinness and Limca Book of World Records, Dasgupta received 500+ national and international awards on various platforms to date. His life story serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring millions and promoting disability inclusion and empowerment, representing India at UN.

Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar presided over the function, while Union Ministers of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athawale, A Narayanaswamy and Pratima Bhoumik also graced this prestigious occasion.
