Congress Leader Bharat Singh Solanki Challenges BJP to Present Work Report for Jammu and Kashmir Over Last Decade
Congress leader Bharat Singh Solanki has challenged the BJP to present a report card of its achievements in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade. Speaking at a rally supporting Congress candidate Yashpal Kundal, Solanki accused the BJP of making false promises. He stated that people are determined to defeat the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, the first in ten years, are being conducted in three phases for 90 seats. The initial phase took place on September 18, followed by the second on September 25, with the final phase scheduled for October 1. In 2014, the BJP formed a government with the PDP, but this alliance ended in 2018, leading to central rule.
BJP's Decade-Long Rule Under Scrutiny
Solanki criticised the BJP's decade-long governance in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming it has only resulted in broken promises and missed opportunities. He accused the party of misleading tactics and failing to deliver any substantial progress during its tenure. According to Solanki, the BJP has controlled Jammu and Kashmir both directly and indirectly for ten years.
He further alleged that the Lieutenant Governor, supported by the BJP-led central government, has taken over all aspects of life in Jammu and Kashmir, stripping residents of their autonomy and dignity. Solanki dared the BJP to show any significant achievements from its time in power.
Call for Change in Leadership
Imran Pratapgarhi, Congress minority wing in-charge and Rajya Sabha member, also addressed the rally. He urged voters not to be misled by BJP's false promises and to support the Congress-NC coalition. Pratapgarhi emphasised electing leaders who genuinely care about people's welfare.
He highlighted that this election is an opportunity to choose a government that listens to its citizens. Pratapgarhi criticised the BJP for prioritising its interests over those of Jammu's people. "The BJP’s betrayal of the Jammu region is undeniable," he said.
Importance of Voter Awareness
Solanki urged voters to be cautious when casting their votes, highlighting the significance of these elections after a decade without local governance. He stressed that this is a chance to elect a government that truly represents their interests and aspirations.
Pratapgarhi also referenced the loss of over 800 farmers during protests at the Singhu border. He stated that these elections provide an opportunity to seek justice for those sacrifices and vowed not to rest until it is achieved.
The Congress leaders' remarks reflect growing discontent with BJP's governance in Jammu and Kashmir. They aim to rally support for a change in leadership that prioritises local concerns and aspirations.
