Pre-Poll Survey: How Many Seats Will BJP Win in Punjab in LS Polls? Check Out Findings Of This Opinion Poll

Is the BJP set to deliver its best-ever performance from Punjab? A pre-poll survey has indicated this as the saffron party is predicted to win a good number of seats.

As per the Federal-Puthiyathalaimurai-Apt 2024 Pre-Poll Survey, the BJP is set to win 7 seats out of 13 seats. At the same time, the ruling AAP is likely to bag 5 seats followed by the Congress which is expected to win just one seat.

According to the survey, 26.9 per cent of Punjab voters are inclined towards AAP, while 27.9 per cent favour the BJP. However, both parties are witnessing significant increases in their vote share compared to 2019. On the other hand, the Congress' vote share is falling to 17.5 per cent from 40.6 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal, which was a major ally of the BJP till last election, seems to be a big loser as its vote share is decreasing from 27.8 per cent in 2019 to 4.5 per cent, the opinion poll said.

It has to be noted that the BJP had secured 1 and 2 seats, respectively in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. However, the BJP has always played second fiddle to the Akali Dal in Punjab politics and probably this time the saffron party might go solo.

As per a recent report, the talks between the BJP and Akali Dal for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls have failed.

Consequently, the saffron party has opted to contest independently in Punjab. Despite some factions within the BJP advocating for an alliance with the Akali Dal, which is grappling with setbacks following its defeat in the 2022 assembly polls, and leaders in the Akali Dal believing that alliances could rejuvenate the party, discussions have faltered.
