New Delhi, May 3: Several parts of the country are likely to get some respite from severe heatwave with the MeT department predicting scattered pre-monsoon showers over the next two days. Also, the weatherman has not issued any heatwave warning for May 4 and 5.

"Because of the increase in the temperature, there is some moisture in the air. This has led to cloud formation, which will result in light rains," S D Pai, a scientist with IMD, said. He said a western disturbance will also trigger rains in some parts of northwest India, bringing down the soaring temperatures.

"These are pre-monsoon showers. The heat will intensify thereafter," he said. Delhi may also witness some pre-monsoon showers over the next two days. "We can expect pre-monsoon activity in terms of thundershowers and thunderstorm or dust storm from May 3 to May 5. Light rain along with strong winds is also a possibility.

"Though the activity will be patchy in nature but on and off rain will keep the temperatures under check, preventing them from reaching to such high levels so early in the month," Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency said.
