Prayagraj Weather Forecast: Chilly Mornings, Warm Days—What Devotees Should Know
Devotees attending the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj should prepare for foggy mornings in the coming days, with misty conditions expected early in the day, followed by clear skies later, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). As lakhs of pilgrims continue to arrive for the religious gathering at the Sangam, authorities have advised visitors to remain cautious during the early hours due to reduced visibility.
The weather forecast for February 1 to 6 suggests that fog or mist will persist in the morning, with temperatures remaining mild and comfortable during the day. Here is a day-wise update on the weather conditions expected during this period:

Prayagraj Weather Today
The first day of the month started with dense fog in the morning, affecting visibility on the roads leading to the Kumbh Mela grounds. As the day progressed, the mist lifted, and a partly cloudy sky was observed. The temperature ranged between 13 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 30 degrees Celsius (maximum), making it comfortable for pilgrims participating in religious ceremonies.
Prayagraj Weather For The Next Five Days
February 2
The weather on Sunday is expected to be similar, with fog or mist in the early hours, particularly before sunrise. By noon, the sky will be partly cloudy, and temperatures will range between 14 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius. With large crowds expected for ritual bathing at the Triveni Sangam, devotees are advised to wear warm clothing in the morning and take necessary precautions while travelling in foggy conditions.
February 3
Monday will bring a foggy morning once again, but the sky is expected to clear up later in the day. The temperature will drop slightly, with a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius and a high of 29 degrees Celsius. This will be an ideal day for pilgrims to explore the Kumbh Mela area, attend spiritual discourses, and take part in evening Ganga Aarti.
February 4
On Tuesday, the temperature is forecasted to reach 31 degrees Celsius, making it the warmest day of the week. The minimum temperature will be 14 degrees Celsius, and while fog may be present in the morning, a mainly clear sky is expected later. With a rise in daytime temperatures, pilgrims are advised to stay hydrated and carry protective coverings while walking long distances within the Mela grounds.
February 5
Wednesday could see thicker fog in the morning, potentially affecting visibility near the riverbanks and on major roads leading to Prayagraj. The temperature will remain between 14 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius. Authorities managing the event have advised early morning travellers to use headlights and avoid speeding due to reduced visibility. By midday, the fog is expected to lift, creating a favourable environment for religious activities.
February 6
The weather conditions on Thursday will mirror those of previous days, with fog in the morning and a high of 30 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. The minimum temperature is expected to be 13 degrees Celsius, and the day will be generally comfortable for visitors. As a large number of devotees continue to arrive, police and volunteers are working to ensure a smooth flow of foot traffic within the Mela area.
Weather Impact On Maha Kumbh Mela
With millions of pilgrims gathering at the Sangam, the weather will play a crucial role in shaping their experience. The foggy mornings may cause minor travel delays, especially for those arriving by road or train. Visitors are advised to:
✔ Plan their travel during daylight hours to avoid low visibility risks.
✔ Wear layers of warm clothing in the morning and lighter clothes for the afternoon.
✔ Stay hydrated and carry protective gear for sunny afternoons.
✔ Follow official announcements for weather updates and safety instructions.
As the Kumbh Mela continues, authorities are working to manage crowd control, sanitation, and safety measures to ensure a seamless experience for devotees. Pilgrims are encouraged to cooperate with officials and take necessary precautions while participating in rituals at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
