Prayagraj Traffic Update: Check These Alternative Routes To Reach Maha Maha Kumbh Mela Without Delays

The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela has already witnessed over 45 crore devotees taking a ritualistic bath in the sacred waters of Triveni Sangam. With the grand event continuing until February 26, many across the country are considering whether they can still make the journey to Prayagraj in the remaining fortnight.

Heavy Rush During Magh Purnima

The recent influx of pilgrims for Magh Purnima significantly affected travel to Prayagraj, leading to severe delays. Journey times by road, usually around eight hours, stretched to 16 or even 24 hours. Traffic congestion caused travellers to remain stranded in their vehicles for up to ten hours.

Upon arrival, many had to walk 10 to 20 kilometres to reach their final destination. Authorities in Madhya Pradesh had warned travellers nearly 200 km away about overcrowding, but these advisories did not deter devotees from making the sacred pilgrimage.

Praygraj Traffic Update: Roads Now Running Smoothly

Amidst the overwhelming crowds, the Uttar Pradesh Police have issued an update on the traffic situation. Officials stated that all routes leading to the Kumbh Mela are now running smoothly. In the past few hours, traffic flow has remained steady, and junctions within the city are operating without any major issues.

Within Prayagraj, key locations such as Balsan Chauraha and Sahason Chauraha are notably free from traffic, making navigation within the city much easier.

Traffic Police And Surveillance Measures

The police remain on high alert, ensuring smooth movement throughout the city. Traffic police have been deployed along all major routes, actively managing congestion. Devotees are advised to park only in designated areas and avoid leaving vehicles on roadsides.

All routes are being monitored from a central control room with advanced technology. Live videography of streets and intersections is continuously shared through a WhatsApp group, enabling real-time traffic management.

With improved traffic conditions, those planning to visit the Maha Kumbh in the coming days can look forward to a smoother and more organised pilgrimage experience.
