Prayagraj Traffic Restrictions: Are Prayagraj Borders Sealed? Check What DM Says

Authorities have implemented a special traffic plan for the Maha Kumbh fair to manage large crowds and ensure safety. The fair area was declared a 'no vehicle zone' from 4 am on Tuesday. Later, from 5 pm, the restriction was extended to the entire city, with exceptions made only for emergency and essential services. The traffic plan will remain in effect until the completion of the ritual to facilitate the safe movement of devotees and enable quick evacuation in case of any emergency.

Officials have taken extra precautions following the tragic stampede that occurred during the Manui Amavasya 'Amrit Snan' on January 29. The incident led to the loss of 30 lives, while 60 others were injured in the chaos.

In response, strict crowd control measures have been put in place to prevent such incidents. Security forces, medical teams, and disaster response personnel have been deployed across the fair area. Additional barricades have been installed to manage the flow of devotees and prevent overcrowding at key locations.

District Magistrate of Prayagraj, Ravindra Kumar Mandar, urged people not to believe in rumours and to follow official updates from the administration. "I have earlier said and am saying it again that people should not pay any heed to the rumours. People should only follow the official version of the administration. Railway operation is smooth. The Sangam station, which is near to the mela area, used to close earlier as well, rest operation at all the stations are normal. As far as talks of sealing of Prayagraj border are concerned, the anti-social elements are spreading the rumour, it is not true, it has never been sealed. Crores of people are taking the holy dip. All the teams are managing properly. They are helping people in terms of food, guidance to ghats. Everything is being facilitated, shuttle buses to provide last-mile travel to the ghat are operating. There is no decision on extending the Kumbh after February 26. People should not believe in any rumour," he stated.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which has drawn millions of devotees, will conclude on February 26 with the final 'Amrit Snan' on the occasion of Mahashivratri. As the event reaches its final stages, officials continue to urge devotees to remain cautious and follow the instructions of security personnel to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone.
