Congress Blasts BJP MP Pratap Simha for Parliament Security Breach Remarks

The Congress party vehemently denounced BJP MP Pratap Simha for his remarks regarding the 2021 Parliament security breach, accusing him of dodging accountability and labeling him a traitor. Simhas evasive stance on the incident and ongoing investigation has drawn sharp criticism from the Congress.

The Congress party on Sunday strongly criticized BJP MP Pratap Simha for his remarks regarding the recent security breach incident in the Lok Sabha. Simha had stated that the public would decide whether he was a patriot or a traitor during the 2024 general elections, evading questions about his alleged involvement in facilitating the entry of two intruders into the Parliament.

Pratap Simhas Parliament Breach Controversy: Congress Calls Out BJP MP

Simha's Controversial Statement

On the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two individuals breached the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during the Zero Hour. They released yellow smoke from canisters and shouted slogans before being apprehended by MPs. Simultaneously, two others, including a woman, raised slogans and released yellow smoke outside the Parliament premises, leading to their arrest by the police.

In response to the Parliament security breach issue, Simha made a controversial statement, asserting that the people would ultimately determine whether he was a patriot or a traitor in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP MP from Mysuru chose not to disclose any information about the incident or the ongoing investigation, leaving it to the judgment of his supporters and divine intervention.

Congress Raises Concerns

Reacting to Simha's comments, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh took to social media to express his concerns. He highlighted that Simha was evading a crucial question regarding his alleged role in facilitating the entry of two individuals who caused a significant security breach in the Lok Sabha on December 13.

Ramesh emphasized that the youths involved in the incident had been charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. He accused Simha and the BJP of diverting attention from this critical issue and suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were sending a message that the BJP and its associates were exempt from accountability.

Visitor Passes Issued by Simha's Office

It was revealed that the two individuals who entered the Lok Sabha chamber had obtained visitor passes issued on the recommendation of Simha's office. This revelation further raised questions about Simha's involvement and the security lapses that allowed the breach to occur.

The Congress party's criticism of BJP MP Pratap Simha highlights the seriousness of the Parliament security breach incident and the need for a thorough investigation. Simha's attempt to deflect attention from his alleged involvement by invoking the public's judgment in the upcoming elections has drawn criticism and raised concerns about accountability within the ruling party.
