Prashant Kishor Reveals Key Decision For Jan Suraj: 'Will Not Seek...'
Prashant Kishor, a political strategist turned activist, announced on Monday that he will not seek any position in Jan Suraaj when it transitions into a political party. He emphasised his commitment to grassroots engagement.

Jan Suraaj's Vision for Bihar
In a post on X, Kishor stated, "After more than two years of padayatra through thousands of villages and small towns of Bihar, we formally started the process of party formation to give a better alternative that would end decades of misery and ensure a better future for the children of Bihar." His campaign is set to become a political party on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
Kishor reiterated his dedication to connecting with people at the grassroots level. "As promised, I will not be seeking any post in the party and will continue with my grassroots outreach for the next many months... And it all began with the prayer chosen by the people here in an online survey!" he added.
Formation Process and Leadership
Over the next two months, 1.5 lakh Jan Suraaj office bearers along with lakhs of 'Sansthapak Sadasyas' (founding members) will discuss and decide on key priorities for the party. They will draft and finalise a party constitution and elect leaders. Kishor highlighted this collective effort as crucial for shaping the future direction of Jan Suraaj.
Kishor has been instrumental in driving the Jan Suraaj campaign, which aims to bring transformative change to Bihar. The campaign has focused on addressing critical issues such as education, healthcare, and employment by engaging directly with the public at the grassroots level.
Upcoming Elections
The formation of Jan Suraaj comes at a pivotal time as they plan to contest the 2025 assembly elections. This move is significant given that chief minister Nitish Kumar faces substantial anti-incumbency sentiments, while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav struggles to expand beyond his traditional Muslim-Yadav vote base.
Kishor's announcement underscores his long-term commitment to grassroots activism rather than holding any formal position within the party. His approach aims to build a strong foundation for Jan Suraaj by prioritising direct public engagement over personal political ambitions.
The strategic planning behind Jan Suraaj reflects Kishor's extensive experience in Indian politics. His vision is to create an inclusive platform that addresses longstanding issues in Bihar through active participation from its citizens.
