The Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday remanded the class 11th student, who has been accused of murdering seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur at Gurugram's Ryan International School, to three-day CBI custody. The juvenile accused would be produced in court on Saturday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier sought five-day custody of the class 11th student.
The lawyer representing Pradyuman's family has said that the accused be tried as an adult.
"We demand strict punishment for him, he should be tried as an adult and hanged..We still believe there was a larger conspiracy, CBI should file a chargesheet soon," Sushil Tekriwal, the lawyer of Pradyuman's family said.
A case was booked under the Section 302 of the IPC, said reports.
Report's quoted Pradyuman's father as saying that he was informed about the questioning of a class 11th student.
The arrested student's father said that his son had not committed the murder.
"They (CBI) arrested my son last night. My son has not committed the crime, he informed gardener and teachers," news agency ANI quoted arrested student's father as saying.
Earlier, a bus conductor working for the Ryan School was arrested for murdering Pradyuman. The conductor had even confessed to committing the crime. Some sections of the media have then said that the police may have rushed to blame the conductor. The CBI has given clean chit to the conductor.
The Haryana government on September 20 wrote a letter to the Centre seeking that a CBI inquiry is ordered into the murder case of Pradyuman at Ryan International School in Gurgaon.
