Power employees threaten agitation if not given VRS option

The association's general secretary, Syed Zaheeruddin, yesterday said the Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company (MahaDiscom) had resolved during Board meeting on July 31 that the class III and IV employees who have crossed the age of 45 years, would have the option of VRS.
However, on August 20, the Board declared that the scheme had been cancelled without giving any proper reason for it, he said. He demanded that state Energy Minister Ajit Pawar should look into the matter and ensure justice to the workers and their families.
If the decision on VRS is not revoked, they would be left with no option but to start a statewide agitation, the Sanghatna's office-bearers said.
