Court Reserves Verdict on Bail in Porsche Crash Case for August 20

The sessions court on Wednesday reserved its decision on the bail applications of six individuals involved in the Porsche crash case, including the parents of the minor driver. The ruling will be announced on August 20. Defence lawyers argued that since the investigation is complete and a chargesheet has been filed, bail should be granted to the accused.

Bail Verdict in Crash Case Due Aug 20

Two IT professionals in their early 20s lost their lives on May 19 when their motorcycle was struck by a Porsche, allegedly driven by the minor son of Vishal and Shivani Agarwal, in an intoxicated state in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area. Following the accident, Vishal and Shivani Agarwal, Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Shreehari Halnor from Sassoon General Hospital, and two middlemen, Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad, were arrested.

Defence Arguments for Bail

Advocate Rhishikesh Ganu, representing Dr. Halnor, argued that his client is accused of tampering with evidence by swapping blood samples. He stated that the charges against Dr. Halnor are bailable and since the chargesheet has been filed and the investigation is complete, bail should be granted. "The case against my client is tampering with the evidence by the means of swapping the blood samples, and the sections that are levelled against Dr Halnor are bailable and since the chargesheet has already been filed and the probe is completed, bail should be granted," he said.

Prosecution's Evidence

The prosecution has gathered evidence such as CCTV footage and WhatsApp messages. They argued that there is no risk of evidence tampering if bail is granted to the accused. Advocate Harshad Nimbalkar represented Vishal and Shivani Agarwal in court. Advocate Sudhir Shah defended Dr. Taware, while Advocate Prasad Kulkarni represented Makandar and Gaikwad.

The court will deliver its order on August 20.
