Polling ends in West Bengal

Kolkata, Apr 4: Polling came to an end on Monday evening in 18 assembly constituencies in the Maoist-affected western districts of West Bengal.

While the scheduled time for conclusion of polls was 4 p.m. in 13 constituencies identified as Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas, the election timing officially got over at 6 p.m. in the other five seats.

However, there were queues of people in a number of booths even after the scheduled end of polling.


As per the Election Commission, the voting percentage was 80.44 in West Midnapore, 79.48 in Purulia and 78.13 in Bankura till 5 p.m.
