Policemen Beat 22-Year-Old Engineer To Death; Family Demands Justice

A tragic incident in Bhopal has left a family devastated after a young engineer, Udit, was allegedly beaten to death by two police constables. The altercation reportedly began when the officers demanded Rs 10,000 from Udit and his friends during a celebration. When Udit refused, the constables allegedly stripped and assaulted him with sticks.

Udit's friends rushed him to a local hospital after he began vomiting following the assault. Medical staff referred him to AIIMS, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The young man's death has left his family shattered and seeking justice as the suspects remain at large.

Family Demands Justice

Udit's father, an assistant engineer, expressed doubt about any investigation led by local police. "My son was killed by policemen, so we cannot expect a fair investigation from them. The probe should be conducted by a higher agency - either the SIT or the CBI. We want justice for our son. The accused policemen should be given the death penalty," he stated.

The family insists that only an external agency can impartially investigate claims of extortion. They stress that crucial evidence, such as CCTV footage, must be handled transparently to avoid government influence over the inquiry.

Political Reactions

State Congress president Jitu Patwari criticized the government's response, stating, "This is a murder committed by policemen, and more than 48 hours have passed, yet the Home Minister, who is also the Chief Minister, hasn't spoken to the family. Neither the local minister nor any official has met them. This government has become completely insensitive."

The Congress party demands swift financial aid for Udit's family and quick action to apprehend the suspended constables involved in this case.

Investigation Underway

Authorities confirmed that both constables are on the run despite being suspended from duty. Investigators are reviewing video evidence and gathering statements from Udit's friends who witnessed the incident and are key witnesses in this case.

A brief post-mortem report revealed traumatic hemorrhagic pancreatitis as Udit's cause of death due to repeated blunt-force trauma. A murder case was filed shortly after these findings were released.

Multiple teams have been formed to track down those responsible for this heinous act; however, no arrests have been made yet.

The incident occurred when Udit returned home to Bhopal after securing a job post-engineering degree completion. He visited his college in Sehore with friends to collect his degree certificate needed for his new job before celebrating with them back in Bhopal.
