Police file charge sheet against civic body chairman in UP

Muzaffarnagar, July 12: Police have filed charge sheet against the Chairman of Shamli's municipal body for allegedly making castiest remarks against its Executive Officer.

Additional SP Anil Jha said the charge sheet against Arvind Singhal, Chairman of Nagarpalika Parishad of Shamli, was yesterday filed in a local court here in connection with the case under the SC/ST Atrocities (prevention) Act.

The then executive officer of the Nagarpalika, Amita Varun, had complained that Chairman Singhal had allegedly made derogatory and castiest comments on her last year. DySP Manish Mishra has investigated the case and filed the charge sheet.
