PoK resident detained with 'incriminatory material' in Poonch

Jammu, Sep 29: A resident of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) was detained in the frontier district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir after he entered the Indian territory on a weekly bus, police said today.

Police detained the PoK resident yesterday when he reached Poonch on the weekly Poonch-Rawalakote bus after he was found carrying some "Jihadi literature", police said.

Identified as Mohammad Aslam Malik (68), a resident of Rawalpindi, had boarded the bus to meet the members of his divided family in Rajouri district, they said. "During the screening of his luggage, police found two Jihadi magazines that he was carrying.

So he was detained for questioning," they said. Malik, who was born in India, had crossed over to PoK in 1965 and had earlier come twice to Rajouri to meet his brothers.

This was his third visit, police said. Under the rules, a person can travel three times in two years on the cross LoC permit. The issue of Malik carrying "Jihadi literature" had already been taken up with the authorities in PoK and he was likely to be deported to PoK today from Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point, they said.
