PNB-Nirav Modi fraud: Shatrughan Sinha raises questions over ‘chowkidaar’ PM’s silence
After Rahul took a dig at "chowkidaar" Modi's silence over the massive banking scandal, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha demanded an answer from the PM over the whole fraud.
New Delhi, Feb 20: It is not just Congress president Rahul Gandhi who is demanding an answer from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rs 11,360-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam. The mastermind behind the scam, billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, has already fled the country before any action could have been taken against him.
After Rahul took a dig at "chowkidaar" Modi's silence over the massive banking scandal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Parliament (MP) Shatrughan Sinha demanded an answer from the PM over the whole fraud.

Without naming anyone, however, the very reference of the word "chowkidaar" in his tweets makes it clear that the actor-turned politician's sarcastic comments were directed towards PM Modi.
During the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, the then chief minister of Gujarat and prime ministerial candidate of the BJP called himself a "chowkidaar" (guard) and promised to protect the hard-earned money of Indians if elected to power.
"A Nationalized Bank scam of unparalleled magnitude...and a conspicuous lack of response from the top people of Govt! "Bade miyaan to bade miyaan, chote miyaan subhan-allah". Neither the Chowkidaaar-e-watan nor even the Ministry of Finance has provided any response or explanation," the Bihar BJP MP tweeted on Monday.
He added, "India must be the only country where the responsible people at the top do not come our with proper explanations that the nation needs & deserves. Almost as if the citizens do not matter! Even Donald Trump faces hard interviews! But here interviews are only to Sarkari Darbaaris."
"Dear Sir. it seems no one had understood what the Chowkidaar-e-watan had meant when he announced that "you gave Congress 60 years, give us only 60 months". Now the symbolic meaning of the cryptic message is being understood by all of us. Balle Balle! Jio! Long live PNB.Jai Hind!" tweeted Sinha.
Continuing with his attack against the PM, Rahul on Monday tweeted, "Pehle Lalit, phir Mallya, ab Nirav farar/ kahaan hai na khaaunga, na khaane dunga kehne wala desh ka chowkidaar? Saheb ki khamoshi ka raaz jaaanne ko janta bekaraar/ unki chuppi cheekh cheekh kar bataye wo kiske hain wafadaar."
