During a meeting with senior Energy Department officials, Vij emphasised forming monitoring committees through Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. These committees will ensure swift implementation of the central scheme. He also instructed the development of an online system for real-time tracking of solar installations across various divisions and units.
Targets and Funding for Solar Installations
Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, Shyamal Misra, assured that the scheme would expand rapidly using a target-based approach. Currently, about 3,000 rooftop solar systems are installed monthly by power distribution corporations. Misra stated that for 2025-26 and 2026-27, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam aims to install systems in 1 lakh households, while Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam targets 1.22 lakh installations.
Anil Vij mentioned that Rs 100 crore each would be allocated to both power distribution corporations. Government approval for this allocation has already been secured. He suggested creating a revolving fund to appoint a dedicated agency for maximising solar system installations in Haryana.
Subsidies and Beneficiary Support
The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana provides subsidies to eligible beneficiaries with an annual income up to Rs 1.80 lakh. The central government offers Rs 60,000, while the state government contributes Rs 50,000 for installing rooftop solar systems up to 2 kilowatts. This results in a total subsidy of Rs 1.10 lakh per beneficiary.
Vij directed officers to explore appointing a dedicated agency for installing maximum solar systems in Haryana. This move is part of efforts to ensure rapid expansion and effective implementation of the scheme across the state.
The meeting underscored the commitment to making Haryana a frontrunner in adopting rooftop solar technology. By setting ambitious targets and ensuring efficient monitoring, the state aims to significantly increase its renewable energy capacity through this initiative.
