PM Narendra Modi greets nation on Chhath Puja

"My greetings on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. May the blessings of the Sun God brighten our lives with joy, peace and prosperity," he said in a tweet.
The Prime Minister also urged people to pledge towards a clean India while offering their prayers to the Sun God.
Chhath Puja is celebrated on the sixth day following Diwali and is dedicated to the Sun. It is one of the most popular festivals in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It is significant for married women who observe a three-day fast and present religious offerings to the Sun God while standing in waist-deep river waters.
Chhath puja was declared as public holiday in Delhi on Tuesday by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. All the government offices in the city will be shut on the occasion. Last year, Chhath Puja had been declared a restricted holiday.
