PM Modi's WhatsApp Channel Crosses 1 Million Subscribers In 24 Hours, Setting New Record
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's WhatsApp channel has crossed 1 million subscribers within a single day of launching, setting a new record, according to an ANI report. The Times of India reported that PM Modi is already the most followed Indian on X, with 91 million followers, and has 48 million followers on Facebook and 78 million on Instagram.
In his inaugural post on his WhatsApp channel, PM Modi shared a picture of himself working in the newly constructed parliament building, accompanied by the message, "Thrilled to join the WhatsApp community! It is yet another step in our ongoing journey of continuous interaction. Let's maintain our connection here!"

For those interested, new channels can be explored under the "Discover" tab, or they can follow this link. Prime Minister Modi also possesses his own dedicated app. It should be noted that the Channels feature has not been rolled out to all users yet. In such cases, users will receive a notification on their devices, indicating that the feature is not yet available to them, and they can opt to receive a notification when it becomes accessible. The global rollout of Channels on WhatsApp was announced just last week.
Channels constitute an innovative feature that enables communication from individuals and organizations to reach millions of people. This feature is housed under a brand-new "Updates" tab, distinct from the existing "Family," "Friends," and "Communities" tabs. For users who have received the update, the Status channel has been replaced with "Updates," which now incorporates Channels alongside the Status updates. Users can invite others to follow Channels using an invite link that can be freely shared online.
It's essential to note that the personal details of channel owners and subscribers remain confidential and undisclosed to others on the platform. Subscribers also have the option to react to updates posted in channels. Additionally, there is now a directory of Channels displayed under the "Updates" tab, and Channel owners can decide whether their Channels are listed in the directory or not.
