PM Modi's No-Trust Motion Speech Beats LB Shastri's 58-Year Old Record
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday broke former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's record for the longest speech on a no-confidence motion by a PM.
PM Modi spoke for two hours and 13 minutes in a debate on a no-confidence motion and beat the record of Shastri by one minute. In 1965, the latter had spoken on the no-confidence motion for two hours and 12 minutes.

Modi's speech has now become the longest-ever in a no-confidence motion debate.
The motion's notice was submitted by Gaurav Gogoi, a Congress MP, and received backing from all members of the INDIA bloc, with a combined representation of 144 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Furthermore, the motion advocated by Gogoi, who holds the position of Congress party's deputy leader in the Lower House, was also endorsed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by Telangana CM KCR.
However, the Centre defeated it as the Opposition parties walked out of the House during Prime Minister's speech.
The Prime Minister started off his speech by targeting the Opposition parties for moving the no-confidence motion and claimed that every time that they have brought it has brought luck to the BJP. He expressed confidence on returning to power again in 2024.
