PM Modi's Fashion Choice For Oath Taking Ceremony: White Kurta And Blue Jacket

Prime Minister Narendra Modi donned a white kurta and churidar with a blue chequered jacket as he took the oath for his third consecutive term on Sunday.

Modi completed his ensemble with black shoes for the ceremony at the forecourts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. For his first swearing-in as prime minister in 2014, Modi wore a cream linen kurta-pyjama with a beige golden jacket, and for the 2019 ceremony, he chose a similar outfit with a beige jacket.

Kurtas and bandhgala jackets are Modi's favoured attire for significant occasions. He is also known for wearing flamboyant and colorful turbans during Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

In January, he opted for a multi-colored "bandhani" print safa for Republic Day. Modi is the second PM after Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected for a third consecutive term. Along with Modi, senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and Amit Shah also took the oath as cabinet ministers, while party president J.P. Nadda rejoined the cabinet after five years, highlighting the prime minister's emphasis on continuity and experience in his third term.

As the third Modi government took shape on Sunday, 33 newcomers joined its ranks, with at least six hailing from well-known political families. Among those joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi's council of ministers for the first time are three former chief ministers: Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Madhya Pradesh, Manohar Lal Khattar from Haryana, and HD Kumaraswamy from Karnataka.
