The Surya Tilak ceremony, a first since the consecration of the new Ram idol inaugurated by PM Modi in January, involved a unique mechanism. Using a system of mirrors and lenses, sunbeams were precisely directed onto the forehead of the Ram idol at noon.

Prakash Gupta, the temple spokesperson, explained that the ceremony lasted for about 4-5 minutes, ensuring direct sunlight on the idol. To maintain order and avoid overcrowding, devotees were restricted from entering the sanctum sanctorum during this time.
Dr. DP Kanungo, Chief Scientist of CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee, confirmed the successful execution of the Surya Tilak at precisely 12:00 pm. Dr. S.K. Panigrahi, a scientist involved in the project, elaborated that this innovative system aims to annually focus sunlight on Lord Ram's forehead during Ram Navami celebrations in the Chaitra month.
