Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, " Will never forget yesterday's visit to the Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple. There is timeless devotion in every part of the Temple."

The belief is widely held that Dhanushkodi is the point where the vow to defeat Ravana was taken by Lord Ram. It is the holy soil from where the journey to Lanka was undertaken by Lord Ram.

Puja at Sri Kothandarama Swamy temple was also performed by PM Modi. The name Kothandarama means Rama with the bow. It is located in Dhanushkodi.

It is said that this is where refuge was first sought by Ravana's brother Vibhishana from Lord Ram. Some legends also say that this is the place where the coronation of Vibhishana was conducted by Lord Ram.

Ram Mandir 'Pran Pratishtha'

The pran-pratishtha ceremony of Ram Mandir holds great significance as Modi is scheduled to visit Ayodhya on Monday for the event.

Earlier on Saturday, the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli and Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram were visited by the prime minister in the southern state.

In view of the grand event in Ayodhya, attended by nearly 8,000 VIP guests, security in the temple town has been beefed up by the Uttar Pradesh Police force.

Boats are patrolling on the Saryu River, and drones are being used for aerial surveillance, according to Additional Director General (ADG) Lucknow Zone Piyush Mordia.

The sanctum sanctorum of the temple in Ayodhya has placed the idol of Lord Ram Lalla. Carved by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj, the 51-inch-tall idol weighs 1.5 tonnes and portrays Lord Ram as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus crafted from the same stone.

A '56 bhog prasad,' to be offered to Ram Lalla 'first' after the pran-pratishtha ceremony, has also reached the city from Lucknow.
