PM Modi To Launch RAPIDX Train During Navaratri: Know All About India's First Rapid Rail

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the RAPIDX, India's first rapid rail train, during the Navratri festival, The Times Of India reported citing sources.

The first train on the 17-km priority stretch will be flagged off in Ghaziabad and the inaugural train might be operated by women pilots. The launch event is held during Navaratri when Hindus celebrate women in the form of 'shakti'.

According to sources cited by TOI, during this event. The NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), responsible for executing the project between Delhi and Meerut, will unveil its mobile app 'RAPIDX CONNECT', sources told the daily. The domestically developed platform screen corridor will be introduced through a virtual launch.

It's anticipated that the NCRTC will present a preview of the upcoming Sarai Kale Khan terminus in Delhi, set to serve as the primary station connecting all prospective Regional Rail Train System (RRTS) corridors linking Panipat and Alwar.

However, the entire Delhi-Meerut RAPIDX is 82-km long network. It will be fully operational by 2025.

Every RAPIDX train comprises six coaches, including one premium and four regular coaches, all equipped with reclining seats and increased legroom. Access to the luxury coach is available through an exclusive lounge.

In addition to this, each train designates a coach specifically for women. Furthermore, the train layout encompasses rooms for pilots at both ends of the locomotive. A total of 407 seats are arranged in a 2x2 configuration, with a collective capacity to accommodate 1,061 passengers.

Each seat is outfitted with overhead luggage racks, providing ample storage space. Alongside complimentary onboard WiFi, every seat is furnished with its individual charging point. Notable amenities include designated areas for wheelchairs, an emergency alarm system facilitating passenger communication with the driver, a public announcement and display system, a route display system, and a speed gun for monitoring the train's speed.
