PM Modi Inaugurates ITPO Complex At Pragati Maidan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the state-of-the-art International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Alongside the IECC, the redeveloped India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) complex was also unveiled, which is scheduled to host the highly anticipated G20 Leaders' Summit in September. The IECC, as per the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), will rank among the world's leading exhibition and convention complexes.
Built as the centerpiece of the Pragati Maidan, the IECC covers a sprawling campus area of nearly 123 acres. This complex is the result of a comprehensive overhaul of the old and outdated structures in the region, and it comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 2,700 crore. It proudly stands as India's largest meeting, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) destination.

In terms of covered event space, the IECC complex ranks among the top exhibition and convention centers globally, aligning with PM Modi's vision of having world-class infrastructure for hosting significant gatherings. It competes with esteemed venues like the Hannover Exhibition Centre in Germany and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai.
Featuring cutting-edge facilities like a convention center, exhibition halls, and amphitheaters, the IECC is a remarkable architectural marvel designed to accommodate large-scale international exhibitions, trade fairs, conventions, conferences, and prestigious events.
Notably, the convention center's Level 3 can comfortably seat 7,000 individuals, surpassing the seating capacity of the iconic Sydney Opera House in Australia, which can accommodate approximately 5,500 people.
