PM Modi To Attend COP28 In Dubai: What's On Agenda?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 28th edition of the Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) on 30 November and 1 December in Dubai, UAE.

The COP28 will be held till December 12, in which, King Charles III, UK PM Rishi Sunak, US Vice President Kamala Harris along with other big leaders from across the world will participate.

It is expected that over 70,000 people will attend the COP28 summit.

Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit to Dubai, Indian Ambassador to UAE, Sanjay Sudhir said that India has always raised the concerns of climate change.

"COP28 Summit is a very important and big international conference. PM Modi coming here, itself shows how big the event is. We are eagerly waiting for PM Modi's visit... the world leaders are waiting. Everyone is eager for him to share his vision with the world," Sudhir quoted by ANI.

India's agenda at COP28:

This will be the second time in three years that PM Modi will attend the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change conference. As per the reports, COP28 will be the stage where India can tell the world its G20 achievements."Climate change has been an important priority area of India's G20 Presidency... COP-28 will provide an opportunity to take forward these successes."

As per reports, the Prime Minister is likely to pitch for the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) to world leaders at the COP28. The GBA was first launched during the G20 Summit in New Delhi. The climate experts believe that the GBA would help to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, which is a major behind drastic changes in climate.

The Global Biofuel Alliance pushes for the adoption of biofuels worldwide by promoting technological advancements and promote the use of sustainable biofuels. Climate change can only be fixed by a wide participation from stakeholders from around the world.
