PM Modi Sends Heartfelt Wishes to Indian Team at Paris 2024 Olympics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to the 117 athletes representing India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Indian team aims to surpass their previous record of seven medals from Tokyo 2022, including a gold.

The opening ceremony in Paris promises to be spectacular, with thousands of athletes parading through central Paris. The Indian contingent will compete in 69 medal events across 16 sports, including Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Equestrian, Golf, Hockey, Judo, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis and Tennis.

Indian Contingent's Ambitions

Prime Minister Modi expressed his support on social media: "As the Paris #Olympics commences, my best wishes to the Indian contingent. Every athlete is India's pride. May they all shine and embody the true spirit of sportsmanship, inspiring us with their exceptional performances. #Paris2024."

Leading the Indian team during the opening ceremony are Table Tennis star Sharath Kamal and badminton ace PV Sindhu. They will carry the national flag in a momentous honour for any athlete.

Grand Opening Ceremony

The opening parade will feature up to 7,500 competitors travelling along a six-kilometre stretch of the river Seine on 85 boats. This grand event contrasts sharply with the Covid-affected Tokyo Olympics in 2020 that had no spectators due to pandemic restrictions.

The Games will officially start on July 27. On this day, India will participate in six events: Rowing, Badminton, Shooting, Table Tennis, Tennis and Hockey.
