PM Modi's wife Jashodaben files RTI, seeks details, copy of his passport

Ahmedabad, Feb 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's estranged wife Jashodaben Modi has filed an RTI application at the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Ahmedabad.

The RTI has been filed by Jashodaben to seek details and a copy of the PM's passports. The move has come after she was denied a passport in November last year.

She was denied passport after she failed to submit her marriage certificate or a joint affidavit with her spouse. She wanted a passport to go abroad and meet relatives and friends of her family.

Jashodaben was accompanied by her relative to RPO on Wednesday, reported the Times of India.

"I have come for my personal work," she said but did not elaborate.

"We will give a reply within the stipulated time frame of 30 days," Regional passport officer Z A Khan said.

Jashodaben had filed an RTI application seeking details of the security she was entitled to as wife of the prime minister just after Modi became PM.

Jashodaben, a retired school teacher, lives with her brother Ashok Modi at Unjha town of Mehsana district.
