PM Modi's spiritual guru Swami Dayanand Giri passes away

Rishikesh, Sep 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's spiritual guru Swami Dayanand Giri passed away on Wednesday at 10:20 pm in Rishikesh.

Swami Dayanand's last rites will be performed on Friday (Sep 25). PM Modi is on a trip to US, hence he won't be able to participate in the funeral ceremony.

Health condition of the PM Modi's spiritual guru, who had been indisposed for some time, deteriorated on Wednesday.

Modi, who had visited Rishikesh earlier this month, had met Giri at his ashram in Sheeshamjhari area to enquire about his health and spent nearly half an hour in the spiritual guru's company before leaving for Delhi.

The 87-year-old spiritual guru, with whom Modi has been associated since his RSS days, was admitted to the hospital where he was undergoing hemodialysis.
