PM Modi Mocks Congress Silence: 'Something Is Fishy'; Congress Replies On X

The challenges posed to the Congress were highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who noted that the party's silence on the matter indicates "there is something fishy", on Thursday.

During a public rally held in Gujarat's Jamnagar, it was mentioned by PM Modi that "It has been 9 days since I have challenged the Congress, and they haven't given me a reply on the same... They are quiet, which means something is fishy", as reported by Times of India.

The Congress was challenged by PM Modi on several fronts, including whether they would reinstate Article 370 and revoke the Citizenship (Amendment) Act if they were to come into power.

He also pressed the Congress on the issue of religion-based reservation. PM Modi's challenges involved seeking written assurances from Congress that they would not alter the Constitution to provide reservations to Muslims based on religion, and ensuring that they would not compromise the reservation rights of SC, ST, and OBC communities by reallocating them to Muslims, as reported by Times Of India.

Additionally, he questioned whether the Congress would commit in writing that their state governments and leaders would refrain from pursuing hidden agendas to grant reservations to Muslims.

Congress Responds

PM Modi's concern related Congress agenda was replied to by the INC party through a video shared on the social media platform in which they claimed that the welfare schemes are bogus. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Congress wrote, " PM Modi is an MP from Varanasi. He has adopted a village named Jayapur. Now listen to the story... Suraj Sharma of Jayapur got a bathroom built outside the house with his own money. There is no toilet in the house. But some people came and wrote 'Izzat Ghar' i.e. toilet on the wall of the bathroom and went away. Just look at the limit.. those who wrote 'Izzat Ghar' with paint, also took Rs. 100 from Suraj's family. This is the story of PM Modi's village."

Notably, PM Modi also expressed concerns about the Congress manifesto, labelling it a "red alert" for the country due to perceived societal divisions and appeasement politics. He drew parallels between the present situation and narratives during the partition era, pointing out what he viewed as alarming trends.

In response to PM Modi's challenges, Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated the Congress party's promises and invited PM Modi and the BJP to a debate on the party's manifesto. Kharge critiqued PM Modi's communication to NDA candidates, accusing him of desperation and falsehoods, as per media reports.

He defended the Congress's inclusive approach, asserting that their "vote bank" encompasses all Indians, particularly marginalized groups, women, youth, and Dalits, in contrast to PM Modi's accusations regarding reservations and the Constitution.
