PM Modi Mentions Scrapping Of Article 370, Sengol, Ram Mandir In His Last Address To 17th Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, during the proceedings of the last day of the 17th Lok Sabha, lauded work done by his government. PM Modi said several path-breaking decisions, that were pending for decades, were taken by his government including the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the ban on triple talaq that empowered the Muslim women.

Prime Minister said the mantra of the NDA government has been "reform, perform and transform."

"During this Lok Sabha's term, several decisions for which many generations waited for long were taken. Article 370 was also abrogated during this Lok Sabha's term... I feel that those who drafted the Constitution would bless us for this," PM Modi said.

PM Modi informed the house that the 17th Lok Sabha was 97 percent productive as more than 30 bills were passed in the last five years.

Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude, particularly to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Reflecting on the past five years, PM Modi highlighted the challenges faced by the Lok Sabha, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which prompted the adoption of new work methods.

PM commended MPs for voluntarily agreeing to a 30% salary reduction and discontinuing canteen food subsidies, thus avoiding public criticism. Additionally, PM Modi recalled the inauguration of the Sengol in the new Parliament building during discussions about relocating sittings.

"The next 25 years hold immense significance for our nation. On one front, there are political ambitions, while on the other, there are aspirations for our country," stated PM Modi, emphasizing that India will transform into a 'Vikshit Bharat' (developed India) within this timeframe.

Hitting out at Congress, PM Modi further added, "Election is not far. Some people might be a little tense but this is an aspect of democracy and we accept that. The election is a pride of our democracy."
