GST Utsav Starting Tomorrow Will Benefit Families Across India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation to announce that the 'NextGen GST reforms', set to be implemented starting September 22, will mark India's 'GST Bachat Utsav'. He said the reforms will increase savings for families and benefit all sections of society.

"From tomorrow in the nation, GST Bachat Utsav will commence. Your savings will increase, and you will be able to buy your favourite things. GST Bachat Utsav will benefit all sections of society," PM Modi said during his address.

Highlighting the impact of GST since its introduction in 2017, the Prime Minister said, "When India embarked on GST reform, it realised the dream of 'one nation, one tax.' For decades, our people and traders were entangled in a web of multiple taxes-Octroi, entry tax, sales tax, excise, VAT, service tax-dozens of levies existed. Moving goods from one city to another meant passing through countless checkpoints."

PM Modi called the GST law "historic" and criticized previous tax regimes for creating hardships for businesses and consumers. He added that the NextGen GST reforms will further simplify taxation, attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and accelerate India's growth story.

"The next-generation GST reforms will be implemented from tomorrow," the Prime Minister reiterated. "These reforms will bring ease, increase efficiency, and ensure that India's economic growth is faster, smoother, and more inclusive."

With the rollout of GST 2.0, PM Modi emphasized that the initiative marks a milestone in India's journey toward a unified and modern tax system, promising tangible benefits for families, traders, and investors alike.
