PM Modi Launches ₹34,200-Crore Development Push in Gujarat, Highlights Maritime Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a grand roadshow in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, ahead of the Samudra se Samriddhi event, where he laid the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹34,200 crore and delivered a keynote address. He will also conduct an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), chair a review meeting, and visit the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal.

Major Announcements in Gujarat

The Prime Minister unveiled central and state projects valued at more than ₹26,354 crore, including:

• Energy & Industry: HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, Acrylics & Oxo Alcohol Project at Gujarat IOCL Refinery.
• Renewables: 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, 475 MW PM-KUSUM Component C solar feeder for farmers.
• Infrastructure & Healthcare: Four-laning of 70 km of highways, expansions at Sir T General Hospital (Bhavnagar) and Guru Govind Sinh Government Hospital (Jamnagar).
• Sustainability: Complete solarisation of Dhordo village and the 45 MW Badeli Solar PV Project.

Maritime Sector Boost

Projects worth ₹7,870 crore were announced to strengthen India's maritime infrastructure, including:

• Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock.
• New container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata.
• Cargo facilities at Paradip, Tuna Tekra, and Kamarajar (Ennore) ports.
• Coastal protection works in Chennai and Car Nicobar.
• Ship repair facilities in Patna and Varanasi.
• Green Bio-Methanol Plant at Deendayal Port, Kandla.

Vision for Gujarat and Beyond

Calling Gujarat the "Land of Two Mohans"-Krishna and Gandhi-PM Modi praised its historic and cultural legacy. He also lauded Operation Sindoor during his address.

The Prime Minister's visit reflects his dual focus on regional development and maritime strength, aiming to spur economic growth while promoting sustainable energy and infrastructure solutions across Gujarat and India.
