The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple to offer prayers. This Hindu temple, dedicated to Sri Ranganathar, holds significant importance for the worship of Lord Vishnu.

Sri Rangam Temple stands as India's largest temple compound and one of the world's most exceptional religious complexes, believed to have been constructed during the Vijayanagara period (1336-1565).

The Ranganathaswamy Temple is renowned for housing Lord Ranganatha, a reclining form of Lord Vishnu, often described as Nam Perumal and Azahagiya Manavaalan, translating to "our god" and "beautiful groom" in Tamil.

This visit marks another chapter in the Prime Minister's engagements reflecting his commitment to cultural and religious heritage across the nation.

Sundar Bhattar, the Chief Priest of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, conveyed immense joy regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit. Bhattar expressed happiness on behalf of all devotees, highlighting the anticipation and positive sentiments surrounding the visit.

He emphasized that both Lord Ranganatha and the Prime Minister care for the welfare of everyone, making it a blessed occasion for Srirangam.

Bhattar asserted that it marked the first instance of a Prime Minister visiting the temple, making it a source of pride for the local community. He struggled to find words to express his happiness at this historic event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit various significant temples in Tamil Nadu on January 20-21. Among the planned activities is the attendance of a program titled 'Shri Ramayana Paryana' in Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, where scholars will recite verses from the Kamba Ramayanam.

This follows the Prime Minister's recent practice of participating in Ramayana chanting events in multiple languages during his temple visits.
