PM Modi Discusses Significance Of Uniform Civil Code For Equality And Unity In India
In his discussion on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted its significance by referencing the Constituent Assembly's deliberations. He underscored the assembly's resolution that the responsibility to decide on the UCC's enactment would fall to the elected government of the time. Furthermore, Modi pointed out that BR Ambedkar, a key figure in drafting the Indian Constitution, was against religious personal laws and supported the UCC.
He also brought attention to KM Munshi's statement about the UCC's importance for the unity of India. Additionally, Modi mentioned that even the Supreme Court has advocated for the implementation of the UCC across the country, marking its importance for national cohesion and equality.

The Prime Minister's emphasis on historical opinions and legal perspectives underscores the ongoing debate surrounding the UCC. By citing the Constituent Assembly and influential figures like BR Ambedkar and KM Munshi, Modi not only pays homage to their vision for India but also aligns the current discussion with foundational principles of equality and unity.
His mention of the Supreme Court's stance further amplifies the legal and moral weight behind the push for the UCC, painting it as a step towards fulfilling a long-standing constitutional suggestion.
This discussion brings to the forefront the idea that the UCC is more than a mere legal reform; it is deeply intertwined with the vision of India's founding fathers for a unified nation.
The emphasis on the Constituent Assembly's intentions, along with the backing of prominent figures and the Supreme Court, positions the UCC as a pivotal issue that bridges past and present, highlighting its potential to shape the future of India's legal landscape in alignment with the principles of equality and unity. The Prime Minister's references serve not only as a reminder of the UCC's historical roots but also as a compelling argument for its relevance and necessity in modern India.
