Padma Awards 2025: Honoring Excellence in Various Fields

The Government of India has conferred the prestigious Padma awards on a diverse group of individuals for their outstanding work. This year's list includes seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees. The recipients have been recognized for their remarkable contributions in various fields, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, and literature.

Among the awardees are 23 women, 10 foreign nationals, and 13 posthumous recipients. The Padma awards are among the highest civilian honors in India, conferred annually on Republic Day, celebrating excellence in numerous sectors that contribute to the betterment of society.

Notable Padma Shri Awardees

Several notable individuals have been honored with the Padma Shri, including:

  • P. Datchanamoorthy, a renowned Thavil instrumentalist, whose career spans over five decades. He has performed in more than 15,000 events, preserving the traditions of South Indian music.
  • Jagdish Joshila, a prolific Hindi and Nimadi author, who has authored more than 50 historical novels, poetry collections, and plays over the past five decades.
  • Naren Gurung, a folk artist from Gangtok, dedicated to preserving Sikkimese Nepali folk music and dance for the past 60 years.
  • Bheru Singh Chouhan, a revered Nirgun folk singer who has spent five decades performing bhajans in the traditional Malvi folk style.

These awardees represent a broad spectrum of talent, from the preservation of cultural traditions to the promotion of literature and the arts. Each one has made an indelible mark on their respective fields, exemplifying the spirit of India's Padma awards.
