PM Modi and Brazil's President Lula Discuss Strategic Cooperation for Global South Interests

During a phone call, they emphasised the need for reformed multilateralism to tackle common challenges. Modi expressed his eagerness to host President Lula in India soon, highlighting the strong momentum in their strategic partnership.

India-Brazil Strategic Partnership

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership. They aim to elevate this partnership to new levels in the coming year. Modi shared on X, "Glad to speak with President Lula. We reviewed the strong momentum in the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership, which is poised to scale new heights in the year ahead."

Both leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. They acknowledged the importance of reformed multilateralism in addressing shared challenges. The official statement highlighted their discussions on these critical topics, underscoring their shared vision for cooperation.

Progress in Bilateral Cooperation

Reflecting on their previous meetings in Brasilia and South Africa, Modi and Lula expressed satisfaction with the progress made in various areas of bilateral cooperation. These areas include trade, investment, technology, defence, energy, health, agriculture, and people-to-people ties. This progress demonstrates the strength of their partnership.

The conversation between Modi and Lula also focused on advancing shared interests of the Global South.
