PM Modi Becomes Most-Followed World Leader on YouTube, Crosses 30 Million Subscribers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved yet another digital milestone, becoming the most-followed world leader on YouTube with over 30 million subscribers.

PM Modi's subscriber count is not just marginally higher than his peers, it is significantly ahead. Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who ranks second among world leaders on YouTube, has only about one-fourth of the Indian PM's subscriber base.

The gap widens further when compared to other leaders such as former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has less than one-seventh of Modi's numbers. This dominance reflects Modi's ability to leverage digital platforms to connect directly with millions of people across India and the world.

The Prime Minister's strong presence on YouTube is part of a broader strategy of digital outreach. His speeches, policy announcements, and public addresses are regularly uploaded, ensuring that citizens can access them instantly. This direct communication bypasses traditional media filters, allowing Modi to engage with audiences in real time and on a massive scale. In India, his popularity on YouTube also eclipses domestic political rivals.

PM Modi has nearly three times more subscribers than Rahul Gandhi and more than four times the subscriber count of political parties such as the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party individually.

This achievement on YouTube follows another record-breaking milestone on Instagram. In 2024, Modi became the first world leader to cross 100 million followers on the platform.

Since joining Instagram in 2014, his following has grown steadily, cementing his status as one of the most influential figures in the digital sphere. His Instagram numbers are unmatched globally-Donald Trump, who holds the second position, has 43.2 million followers, less than half of Modi's tally. Other leaders such as Indonesia's Prabowo Subianto, Brazil's President Lula da Silva, Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Argentina's Javier Milei trail far behind.

Within India, the contrast is equally striking. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has around 16.1 million Instagram followers, while Rahul Gandhi has about 12.6 million. Modi's towering numbers highlight his unmatched digital presence, both domestically and internationally.

The Prime Minister's dominance across platforms illustrates how social media has transformed political communication. Leaders today are no longer dependent solely on traditional media outlets to reach citizens. Instead, platforms like YouTube and Instagram allow them to build direct, unfiltered connections with millions of people. Modi's success demonstrates the power of consistent engagement, strategic content sharing, and the ability to adapt to evolving digital trends.
