PM Modi Attacks Rahul Gandhi, Says Many Talented Opposition Leaders Don't Get Chance Because Of One

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a pointed dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, saying that several leaders in the opposition are both talented and effective speakers, but they are never given a chance to express themselves because of the Congress leader's dominance.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a tea meeting with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders. The informal gathering, held in Parliament, was not attended by opposition MPs and remained limited to NDA members.

According to sources present at the meeting, PM Modi said the opposition benches are often filled with leaders who have strong debating skills. However, he claimed that these MPs are deliberately prevented from speaking in the House because their performances might overshadow Rahul Gandhi, who currently serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

"Many opposition MPs are compelled to disrupt the proceedings of Parliament. The reason is not just politics, but the fact that they are better orators than Rahul Gandhi. However, he does not want to encourage them," PM Modi is learnt to have said.

His remarks come at a time when Parliament has seen repeated disruptions, walkouts and confrontations between the treasury benches and the opposition bloc. While the opposition has accused the government of avoiding debates on key national issues, the ruling party has countered that the disruptions are politically motivated and deny the House a chance to function smoothly.

The Prime Minister's comments highlight the deepening fault lines between the NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc, with both sides trading sharp barbs inside and outside Parliament.
