PM Modi And PM Sanchez Inaugurate India's First Private Military Aircraft Assembly Line At TATA Complex

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez officially inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex at the TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus, dedicated to the production of C-295 aircraft.

The project involves a total of 56 aircraft, with 16 being supplied directly by Airbus from Spain and the remaining 40 to be manufactured in India, as reported by ANI.

This facility represents India's first private sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft, with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. at the helm of production for the 40 aircraft. The complex aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem covering all aspects of aircraft development, including manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery, and maintenance throughout the aircraft's lifecycle.

In addition to Tata, the program will see collaboration with major defense public sector units such as Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd., along with various private Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) participating in the initiative, as per ANI reports.

The foundation stone for the Vadodara Final Assembly Line was laid by PM Modi in October 2022, marking a significant milestone in India's defense manufacturing capabilities.

Historic Bilateral Meeting at Laxmi Vilas Palace

After the inauguration, the leaders will hold bilateral talks at the historic Laxmi Vilas Palace, facilitated by India's Ministry of External Affairs. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is also set to meet with PM Sanchez during his visit. Their discussions will conclude over lunch before Sanchez departs for Mumbai on Tuesday, as per media report.

Sanchez's Visit Marks Key Moment in Spain-India Relations

Sanchez's visit follows German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's recent trip to India, highlighting back-to-back meetings with European heads of state for PM Modi. This visit is expected to strengthen India-Spain relations, particularly in defense and manufacturing sectors, with Sanchez scheduled to return to Spain early Wednesday.
