PM Internship Scheme 2025: Here Is The New Last Date To Apply Online; Registration, Eligibility, Salary & More

The last date for the registration for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) phase 2 trial phase has been extended till April 15. This is an initiative by the government take with an aim to provide 'employable' skills' for 1 crore youths in the country in India's top 500 company over the next five years.

The BJP-led Centre had earlier said that 1.25 lakh youths will get internship opportunities from the leading companies such as Zee, Glemmark, Mahindra, ICICI Lombard, DMart, Eicher, Dabur, Zerodha, Godrej, Siemens, Pidilite, Lanco, ICICI Prudential, Adani, SBI Life, Coromande, Honda, Apple, Sun, Bajaj Alliaz, Bosch, Johnson and Johnson, Google, HDB, MRF, TATA, etc.

"Another cornerstone of India's skill development efforts is the Indian Institute of Skills. The vision behind setting up IIS is to build world-class skill training centres by learning from and imbibing best practices from internationally renowned existing skill institutions.

The Indian Institute of Skills, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai, earlier IIS is designed to cultivate an industry-ready workforce for Industry 4.0, offering training in areas like factory automation, digital manufacturing, mechatronics, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and additive manufacturing. These skills are essential for both the services and manufacturing sectors, as well as emerging industries such as electric vehicles (EVs) and robotics." the press release said.

Eligibility: The key eligibility criteria include:

  • Age: 21-24 yeard old and should be Indian national. The person should not be employed full-time, and not engaged in full-time education.
  • Educational Qualifications: ITI, diplomas from Polytechnic Institutes, or hold undergraduate degrees such as BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BCA, BBA, or B.Pharma etc

How much will interns be paid as a salary?

The youngsters will receive Rs 5,000 per month for 12 months of which Rs 500 is contributed by the company through its CSR funds, and Rs 4,500 is transferred by the government to the intern's Aadhaar-linked bank account. The benefits will be sent under a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) model.

Also, a one-time grant for incidentals of 6,000 will be disbursed to each intern by the government through Direct Benefit Transfer, upon the intern's joining at the internship location.

Will the interns get any other benefits?

Insurance coverage shall be provided to each individual intern under insurance schemes of the Government of India, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, for which premium amount shall be provided by Government. In addition, the company may also provide additional accidental insurance coverage to the interns.

Who will bear the training expenditure?

Expenditures associated with the training of interns under the Scheme, would be borne by the company from its CSR funds, as per the extant rules.

PM Internship Scheme 2024: Application Process

To apply for the PM Internship Scheme 2024, candidates can follow these steps:

  • Log into the website at pminternship.mca.gov.in.
  • Click on the "Register" link to open a new page.
  • Complete the registration form with the required details, then click "Submit."
  • The portal will automatically generate a resume based on the information provided.
  • Select up to five preferred internship opportunities, considering location, sector, role, and qualifications.
  • Click "Submit" to finalize the application and download the confirmation page.
  • Print a copy of the confirmation for future reference.
