He also directed Home Minister Rajnath Singh to rush to Pune to take stock of the situation, a PMO statement said.
"The Prime Minister has condoled the loss of lives in the landslide and directed all possible efforts to help the affected people," the statement said.
80 personnel of National Disaster Response Force have reached the spot for relief and rescue operations, it noted.
"Loss of lives in landslide in Pune dist. is saddening. Spoke to Rajnath ji and he would be travelling to Pune to take stock of the situation," Modi tweeted.
At least 15 people died and over 150 were feared trapped after a landslide hit a village in Pune district in Maharashtra on Wednesday morning.
According to the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), which has sent seven teams to the spot, the landslide was triggered by heavy rains.
