The Parliament building is part of the revamped Central Vista Project. The construction of the same began in 2019. The building was built at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. The new Parliament has three storeys and a built-up area of 64,500 sql. During the ceremony today, a Rs 75 coin will also be launched.

There are 92 rooms for the council of ministers.

The Opposition and the BJP have been at logger heads over the new Parliament building. The Opposition has boycotted the event stating that it should have been the President of India who should have inaugurated the new Parliament building.
