Pledge to uphold India's sovereignty: Karnataka Governor

Bangalore, Aug 14: Karnataka Governor K Rosaiah has asked the citizens to pledge to uphold India's sovereignty and integrity.

In his Independence Day message, Rosaiah, said "Let us on this auspicious occasion resolve to dedicate ourselves to strengthen our national fabric and shoulder the responsibility of taking our nation to greater heights."

He said, "May we pledge to uphold our nation's sovereignty and integrity and contribute our mite for peace, progress and prosperity."

Rosaiah, Tamil Nadu governor who holds the additional charge of Karnataka, has conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the citizens on the occasion.

Heightened security is in place across the city for the Independence Day with about 1,200 police personnel being deployed in and around the parade ground where the main event will be held.
